Anyone done BRCA2 gene testing?

I've recently found out that my aunt has the brca2 gene and there's a 50/50 chance that I do.
I'm going to do the test but I've been told it could be a 3 month wait for results.
I'm trying not to go mad in the meantime. Everything I read about brca2 is terrifying. 80% chance of getting breast cancer and preventative mastectomy and oophorectomy is recommended. I'm getting ahead of myself and worrying about everything.
Just wondering if there's anyone in the same boat or anyone else who's been through this.

Thats really shit tbh. Im not in the uk but they were insistent on results before surgery. Im so sorry you are waiting

@Maddy70 Ah, I saw yours only took a month and wondered if it varied by trust! I did ask about waiting but they said it’s not ethical to wait 3 months for my op as it could have led to worse outcome and I’m only 10% likely to have it. No one in my family has been tested until me, I am getting tested because I’m young to have cancer and have lots of family history of it.

@user1492757084 the information pack I was given states that U.K. insurers have agreed to not ask about results of genetics testing (ethics perspective, wanting to avoid people avoiding testing) so if you are U.K. based one of us was misinformed!

@user1492757084 i received the same info as @Maddy70 . They're not allowed to ask and you're not obliged to disclose predictive genetic tests.
