I just need a hand hold tbh, heads all over! Went to doctor last week as I've got a purple what I thought mole on my left leg. A week later I was seen by a dermatologist and he said skin cancer and they want me to go back for removal. And the biopsy! I was in the room alone and can't remember all said he didn't say a name or anything but my heads just all over.
Anyone else had anything like this happen?
Thankyou in advance and sorry if I don't make sense.

A biopsy is to check if it’s cancer or not, so are they removing it straight off (so they can already tell it’s cancer) or are they doing a biopsy to check to see if it is cancer?

They said it could be, and they want to remove it and do a biopsy. He didn't say a name or anything? My kind is going all over.... here's a picture

It’s likely going to be fine. Even so, if it is cancer, many skin cancers are easily treatable. Try not to worry -easier said than done I know. But if the dermatologist couldn’t give you a definite without a biopsy, MN aren’t going to be able to. I hope you get your appointment through soon.

It looks tiny so worst case scenario it has been caught extremely early.
If it is a basal cell carcinoma that would only spread locally so not a huge deal to worry about.
If it is melanoma yes it is a worry but this is so small would probably be low risk that it has spread anywhere.
Plus there are treatments available for melanoma that weren’t around just 10-15 years ago.
One step at a time, might be nothing much at all.

I had a mark on my arm and the GP took one look and said "that's skin cancer". Went to dermatologist who said it had some of the classic signs of a BCC but not others. He removed it. It wasn't cancer but a dermatofibroma.

So just saying that even if it looks like cancer it might not be. And it looks very small to me (and also a bit like a broken vein but pic isn't that clear and I'm not a doctor!). But you've done the right thing and they will deal with whatever it is.

Thankyou, I also have a picture I took 4 years ago. Yeah it hasn't changed. I seen dermatofibro (can't spell) can be all colours and even purple. But I think even if one looks like it could be bad they will just take it off

Me and DH are both in our 70s. Virtually everyone we know who are a similar age or older have had skin cancers cut out of their faces, or other bits. If it is a Bass Cell cancer, they are the least dangerous, but need removing asap. If they are caught very early, this can be done with a n aggressive cream, I have just had a small early stage BOX removed from my nose this way. DH has one in his nose, which was more advanced and needed a skin graft. A bit uncomfortable for him, and a little scarring, but nothing to lose sleep over. Not knowing is the worst bit, once you know what it is, you will know what treatment is needed.
