Scan of lump in neck

Advice or reassurance please!

I was sick for an extended period last November - given two rounds of antibiotics for suspected tonsillitis and sinusitis - not convinced it was that.

Since then one gland in my neck has remained large, goes up and down, aches and now I'm feeling it blocking when I swallow.

Doctor has requested urgent ultrasound to be sure it's a lymph node, or check it's a healthy lymph node.

I'm terrified - anyone had this? Could I have cancer?

I had the same issue about 10 years ago & it was absolutely fine. My lymph node stayed swollen for a further 4 months then went down. Try not to worry (easily said, I know!).

Thank you! Yeah it's so worrying, especially as it still aches and i can feel it when I swallow. I'm totally convinced it's something awful 😞

I was convinced I had something awful too, especially as the GP was also concerned. I was told it was “just your lymph node doing what it’s supposed to do”.
