We are going camping in south west france in august and so now instead of worrying about how to stay warm at night I'm worrying about how to stay cool at night. What do I need to take? anyone done it?

less is more.

You don't need to take much at all in hot weather. Bliss.

Take sheets as well as sleeping bags so you lie under them instead.

When you asre outdoors it isn't unbearably hot at night, it is just a nice pleasant temp.

It is perfect - showers for instance are soo easy - no shivering, no juggling of umpteen clothes and shoes and things.

night time is gorgeous, just sitting out without a jumper and drinking wine then sleeping on top of your sleeping bag. don't do up the compartment you are sleeping in - just the fly bit.

Oh yes, it is perfect! Towels dry quickly too!

Do you have a hammock? I have a hammock made of parachute material so packs away tiny and it is great for camping trips abroad, sling it between two trees and you have a perfect shady place to chill, and can even sleep in it at night provided you won't be eaten alive my mozzies....

lunavix · 01/07/2010 19:59

ooh where did you get that from omdb?

Lucycat · 01/07/2010 21:15

yes take a tarp for some shade - we also have a silky hammock but i am crap at staying in the thing and cannot drink wine in it!!

ebay, about two years ago, but just had a search and can't find them anymore

that all sounds like good news thank you! it will make a change from sleeping fully clothed as I've done recently...
