how do you find out about those secret, 'word of mouth' basic campsites

It seems like there are no places online which list very basic,simple,rustic out of the way camping places.

Is there any websites which list farms which offer very basic camping (basic = tap and a toilet?)

I don't want to camp at a camping and caravan
park, it's just not my thing, and just don't kknow how to find the sort of camping places we are after!

I love basic camping! Strip wash in the tent each morning is plenty for me, and the children just get grubby .

We found one on ukcampsite.co.uk that is only £8 a night, but it's part of a pub, and there are only loos when it's open (12pm-11pm)! It's by a field though, so portapotti and picnic wees the rest of the time, I feel! Or trips to the nearest service station .

Loads of basic ones in Scotland, but best of all is wild camping by your own huge white sandy beach..........ahhh I do feel sorry for you all down there trying to get away from it all......on the downside you don't have the midgeee.....!!

dh found our favourite one on an ordnance survey map. It has no web presence at all (or didn't a couple of years ago) because the owners try to keep it quiet.

Bison Farm in Wiltshire, it only takes 10 tents and its set in 30 acres. 2 loos and 1 shower. Children love it.

tulip27 is that seriously ony £8 per night? That sounds great. The bison look quite scary mind
