Anyone have a Vango Icarus or Orchy?

I have just ordered a Vango Icarus 500 and the Orchy 500 but wondered if anyone has one and can tell me a bit about them before I have to commit and pay for one? Both have their pros and cons but my main concern is that I will need to erect the tent by myself, whilst supervising a 4 yr old. Is that possible with the Orchy?

TIA

I have an Icarus 500

I can erect it on my own. Doesn't take long either

We have just bought an Icarus. Took it out this weekend for the first time - although dh and I put it up together, tbh he could have managed himself easily - its just 3 poles.

Its a lovely wee tent - we are really pleased with it.

Its on offer at Gaynors just now, which means GoOutdoors will price match + 10% - we got the Icarus 500, carpet and footprint for £158

I'm sellng an Icarus

Bumpinthenight · 20/06/2010 23:03

I erected the orchy on my own with a 2.6 year old. Taking DH to help next time! Straightforward to do but lots of poles and colour matching needed. Was quite awkward getting the main dome bit up.
Was up in 20 mins though so not bad for a first attempt.

Oooo, thanks. I think I'll go for the Icarus then. Why are you selling it, DA?

I just want something a bit bigger with a built on canopy, it's fine for weekends but can get a bit cramped for longer with 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog! It's a great tent for weekends, quick to put up and down.

DA Are you selling a 500? I'm looking for a 600

DesolationAngel · 22/06/2010 17:24

It's the 500

Actually DA a 500 might do us. Our kids are still v small. How much were you hoping to sell it for and what is included?
Please let me know before it starts raining!

GeordieM what is the footprint? How do you go about getting such a good deal do you negotiate with Go Outdoors? I'm a bit green. We're in Bishopbriggs near Glasgow did you use a Glasgow store?
I just googled a really fab campsite in Morar up near Ariseag which is v appealling for camping but a bit too far away for a few days. Have you been to any good sites closer to home but not too close?

DesolationAngel · 22/06/2010 21:26

Maybee - it's the tent and the footprint. The Footprint is an extra groundsheet that you put down then pitch your tent on top. It makes it easier to position your tent and protects the underneath of your tent from stones etc. I am wanting £115 for the tent and footprint. You can mail me at f1amef1amef1ame @ yahoo .co.uk
