Outwell Sun Valley - can't get the proper carpet, can we use another sort?

After humming and harring about this dodgy columbia tent yesterday, have been looking at Outwells online and actually found one second hand, which is coming this afternoon!

It's an older one, maybe 2007? It's the 6 version without the front canopy thing.

I've been looking for a carpet for it but obv can't get the original one made to measure, but could I use say the Nevada M carpet or similar - I think it's a bit bigger but I don't know whether it is possible to cut these things down etc.

I'd appreciate any advice, also if anyone else has a view on this tent - the reviews I've seen seem really good.

Oh yes and also, is it possible we could fit a canopy retrospectively, or will the other Outwell ones (such as the side extension which you can still get) not fit properly?

We have the Sun Valley 6 and we love it! Great size, lots of clever outwell features and easy to erect and take down. Like all big modern tents it is bloody heavy but fits back in its bag very easily. I particularly like the front canopy bit which means rain doesn't come in when you unzip the door and you can cook out of the wind and rain in safty and comfort, and teenage boys shoes can stay outside....

I'm sure you can use another carpet, just get one the rough dimensions of the living area and either fold under or not worry if it doesn't reach the edges. You don't sit on the edge bits do you.

Glad you like it! I will get a slightly bigger carpet, then.

Also re the additional canopy; we don't have one but don't feel the need for extra space as the basic tent is so spacious.

Oh that's good. Just that someone on the uK campsite forum said I think that the front section might leak a bit, as it doesn't have the extra bit - I think also they did use the side canopy on the front, and it fitted Ok, so will check it out!

Tent has just arrived so am off to try and put it up. I may be some time...
