Lucycat or other Chantepie fans...question re swimming!

Can any of you Chantepie fans help ? We are off to Chantepie in a couple of weeks (am ridiculously excited!) but DH and I were discussing male swimming trunks last night. Is Chantepie one of those places where men need to wear tight Speedo like swimming trunks or can he get away with his baggy UK swimming shorts?

Many thanks!

hellooo! Lucky you heading to Chantepie.....hope the weather is kind for you!

iirc there are no lifeguards around the pool so you should (or rather your dh) should be fine in swimming shorts. He might want to get something not as long as knee length and obviously swim shorts just in case.

Make sure you go the zoo at Doue while you're there - it's amazing - my dd2 fed a giraffe when we were there - they are in an old limestone quarry so their heads are on a level with you.
Have you read my review on ukcamping too?
Do you know what sort of pitch you have got?

Thanks! I don't think he was looking forward to the whole speedos thing!

We have got an XXL pitch in order to avoid a repeat of two years ago where, in order to fit our large tent (nicknamed Alexandra Palace) onto the pitch, we had to guy it to several trees and only park the car at a certain angle! Any tips on which pitches to go for?

We are planning to go to the zoo - dd1 (aged 3.5) is very excited! We have also just booked to go to Batcombe Vale in Somerset later this summer after reading a good review in the Rough Guide. I had to spend a few minutes explaining to dd1 that the picture of the giraffe next to the campsite review referred to Longleat and didn't mean that there were going to be giraffes on the campsite. She was quite disappointed

Have you been to the Cadre noir horses shows?
Anything else we should do while we are there (apart from lounge about and prevent dd2 from chewing the guy ropes/grass/tent pegs etc etc!)?

We had an XXL pitch too - the 2nd and 3rd photo on my profile were taken at Chantepie - we were at the end of the first road, the view is back towards the playground - it may have been pitch 11(?) the pop-ups are also on the pitch - they are absolutely massive Tip tho - take an extension lead if you have ehu - our regular 20m one wouldn't reach the socket - although they may have them in reception that you can borrow.

They are crazy about cycling in the region and you may be able to hire bikes if that's your thing. We 'did' chateaux but our dd's are a bit older and lots of strolling about from the site - if you want a cheap and easy meal head for E L'Eclerc down towards Saumur - it's where the French eat and great for kids.
get Google to translate this for youhere it's right next to Decathlon.

Enjoy!

PMSL at the memories of poor DH,racing for cover last year as we realised with horror that everyone else in the pool at our French site had ignored the rule re;having to wear fitted speedos!!!

Hee hee! I think that's what DH is trying to avoid....
