We want to stay as close to the port of Caen as possible for just 1 night then we have just a short drive to the port for our early morning return ferry crossing back to England.

Ive looked at a sight called Capucines (sp?) but it was rather pricey and had lots facilities that we would be paying for but wouldnt use, we will only be arriving at the site late afternoon and leaving again early the next morning.

Do you want to go inland or stay by the sea?
is this one a bit big for you?

Have a look here on ukcamping to see if any sound ok - the ferry actually goes from Ouistreham which is north of Caen - about 20mins iirc.

How about a Formule1 type of budget hotel?

We have stayed at the Mecure at the habour lots of times , is realatively cheap, not grand but there are quite a few resturants around the ferry port for that last holiday meal !

Thanks for your replies, I forgot to mention that we are towing a caravan so its a pitch we need, not a room.

Anyway, I did look at that site Lucycat, it sounded ideal but it wouldnt do just the 1 night. I've ended up booking Loisirs Ariana which is about a 25 min drive to the port. Well, I think Ive booked it, Ive done it through a website called eurocampings.eu but I'm still awaiting confirmation. Got to wait for confirmation email direct from the site. Am not so sure about it because its showing no availability if I try the site direct. Anyhow, we'll prob find out tomorr.

Thanks for the replies.
