if you were going to buy an outwell tent, which one would you get?

we currently have a vango colorado and really want to swap it for one with a built-in ground sheet (after a rather windy few nights in devon!!!)
2 adults, 3 children.

ha ha

I've done it. Pack uncrumpable clothing and apply makeup in car in church car park

Just back from the maiden outing of our Outwell Hartford XXL and it is fabulous! It is also embarassingly huge. The three DS' need separating at bedtime so the four pods were perfect. WE could quite possibly have pitched another tent in the central area, but it will be brilliant in bad weather to make space for rowdy boys. I can't believe how easy it was to pitch either, could have done it single handed with just a little help in the last 5 mins. (is this enough for some freebies from Outwell do you think, I should be a brand ambassador!)

Right I think you can now all tell I'm madly in love with my new tent, I'll be off.

Oooh I love Outwell - we are the Outwell family ! We have an Outwell Idaho XL which is huge for long camps, an Indian Lake for medium breaks and a Kansas 5 for overnight stops. I love them all and they are all fab for a family of 4 and a dog. My latest addition is an Outwell Tarp, which matches the Indian Lake - oh dear what have I become !!

The Idaho sleeps 8 but I am not sure if they make them anymore, which is a shame as it is a great tent with masses of living space. The Lake sleeps 6 and is spacious for sleeping, but is quirky as its a tipi style so has a small porch, but is lush . Tis expensive though and was an extravagance. You can probably get more practical family tents for the price. Its eyecatching too, and we always get lots of people wanting to look inside, so I have to make sure I hide the dirty grollies .

Happy tent hunting .

at multiple Outwell ownership.

We have three tents and DH dosen't understand why I won't sell one (someone asked if they could buy it). Dosen't he understand I need them all, I wouldn't sell one of the children just because I've got three. I bet he wouldn't sell one of his BBQ's,

Suziewee · 06/06/2010 20:49

lol lostinwales I wouldn't part with any of our tents either!!

I've seen the Hartford XXL and it's a fab tent, similar size to the Idaho and like you say almost embarrassingly huge, especially when we put the front extension on - whatever were we thinking to extend a tent that size !!

lostinwales · 06/06/2010 22:17

I know Suziwee, but you just want that extension though don't you, have persuaded DH that if we go abroad for a long camp that we'll have to get one.

In winter when we can't camp I get quite nostalgic for the sound certain zips make! (although I haven't sniffed a tent, yet...)

oh wow, so many replies!

i think i've def decided on a non-poddy one, as the colorado has pods and it annoys me (though poss more because of the separate groundsheet)

that said, i was slightly tempted by a hartford that was going on ebay last night £35 with only 3 hrs to go!!!

We have a Sunvalley 6 and it is so perfect I do not understand why they are no longer made.

Also have a pop up and a 4 man "festival tent" and I'm not sure what else in the attic....I love tents
