Are Aldi/Lidl bargains worth it?

Just saw this: www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_14384.htm

but I'm worried if we get it we'll end up having to spend more money to get gas hose adaptors etc. or it'll be shit and break etc.

Can anyone reassure me?

I'm not seeing it.

But, I have got some Lidl gardening bargains in the past that have really been great and lasted.

Sorry - should have put the link properly!

My DH is a big fan of ALDI and we have had many of their bargains over the years that hve lasted well. the camoing stuff has always been great quality.

Hadn't seen that stove but would be very tempted if we were still doing lots of camping.

have tried some aldi and lidl stuff, it is usually amazingly cheap, so i think you have to accept that some of it is going to be rubbish. It helps if you know what you are looking for. Luckily they seem very good at taking stuff back that doesn't work or immediately breaks, no questions asked in my experience.

I don't really shop at Aldi so don't know their stuff, but Lidl's is generally really good quality for the money. Often far better than Argos.

MrsBadger · 06/06/2010 17:18

this stove is cheaper
this is £5 more and has a lid (v handy as windshield and for using as a tabletop when shut)

so unless you have no camping shops near you so would have to pay p&p it's not taht big a argain

Drusilla · 06/06/2010 17:18

It's nearly always really good stuff, definitely better than what you would get for the same price in a UK high street shop.

Some of it is great, and good value. Cooking pots, pillows, jam and marmade - very pleased with. But I bought an Aldi bike pump and saddle a couple of weeks ago, both very cheap. The saddle came apart and the pump wouldn't stay on the valve.

Took 'em both back the next day and got a refund, no argument.

My aldi table (concertina so folds small) was around £16, compared to £25 at go outdoors and is much sturdier. Camping kitchen was £25 compared to £30, and is a little sturdier.

My frien has the Aldi stove and really recommends it. I was going to get one myself but they've only just started selling it and I couldn't wait that long.

I'm about to buy one of these! My dad bought a single ring gas burner from Aldi to make curries and he said it's excellent. He gets loads from there, and Lidl. (To date he's had 2 42" flat screen tvs, the camping stove, a camping table for the stove, a unicycle, kites, kitchen utensils, shoes, waterproofs - I could go on!)
