Anyone got an Outwell Explorer? Or another of their fantasy tents?

Another tent thread from me, sorry.

Am looking at buying an Explorer for me & DS to use for long weekends/ weeks away. Just wondered what people thing of it. TIA

Another answer from me...

we looked at the fantasy tents when we were buying this spring. We felt that, whilst DD (3) loved the kids inner, we weren't actually convinced that having places for her to throw balls was going to give us any more peace and quiet in the early morning (suspect the balls would land on her face before too long and make her scream, if the tent didn't rock us awake first...), and that we're not quite sure enough of her discriminating "safe things to throw at a tent" for the outside thing. We also found that the dark blue outer made for a much hotter environment than the beige of the Nevada.

But we did love the kids inner, DD included

we were seriously considering buying the outwell fantasy imagine and even had a bid on ebay which we lost by £5 ! lol! however at the weekend we bought the montana 6 with 20% off at go outdoors. The cheapest we found the imagine was 475 and most were selling for 499. In the end we just couldn't justify the difference in price for exactly the same tent with bits that we probably would never used (apart from the fantastic kids room!)
They are lovely tents though just exactly the same as the outwell montana 6 and I think the magic is the nevada m but I'm not quite sure.

Thanks. I have found the Explorer online cheaper than similar sized models in the other ranges which is why I was tempted. Plus the fab kids room. I think I would 'look after' the balls at night to prevent early morning ball throwing

then go for it ! the kids would love it!

i am in the same dilema, love the look of the imagine, but then decided on the montana 6 and maybe just buy the kids room inner fly seperately, and now DP has decided HE likes the outwell hartford XL. Things always have to get bigger and better when men involved! I like the sound of the bigger tent but worry about spending hours putting it up and taking it down! OOHHHH decisions!

SuperBunny - if you like it and its a good price then do it

chickenlickin - from talking to the guys that put up all the display tents, the pods on the Hartford do make it quite a lot more work to put up. Depends whether you need / want the extra beds and separated sleeping space... For us, we decided simplicity was more important right now (and we weren't convinced DD would be happy sleeping on the other side of the tent).

Apologies for bumping a semi-old thread but I'm currently contemplating getting an Outwell Magic and wonder what people think of them. There is only one review on UK campsite.

If you have one how easy is it to put up? The Outwell video makes it look easy (of course!) but I'm wondering whether I could do it with the help of ds (6) holding the poles?

MollieO · 30/08/2010 12:31

No need to answer my query now - I've just bought a Vango Artemis!

the Outwell Imagine is not actually the same as the Montana 6, they use cheaper polyester (3000mm instead of 5000mm). 400 now though.
