Can anyone recommend a 2 person tent - must be widely available in stores or next day delivery or something?

I'm helping out with a practice expedition (D of E) this weekend. We were originally told that group leaders would have dormitory-style accommodation on site, but it turns out there won't be nearly enough beds, so our group are camping.

I do have a 2 man tent in the shed, but it's not been used since pre-kids, & then it was lent out to a feckless mate to go Download Festivalling in. Haven't checked it since he returned it, except to note smell of cat wee emanating from it a year ago when moving house...

So I'm going to pitch it in the garden tomorrow & hope that it is all there & no longer smells.

If it's knackered &/or whiffy, my plan is to nip out Thursday after work & buy one from Argos or similar.

Any recommendations? Cheap'n'cheerful is fine, but it'll probably subsequently get used as an overflow from our family tent, so would prefer something not completely crap!

Decathlon have loads

You can get a really cheap one from Tesco at the moment - we got it for DS to mess around in the garden with - but I wouldn't like to vouch for it being bad weather-proof...

If you're within driving distance of a Millets, their bog-standard Eurohike is pretty reliable - that's what DH uses on his DofE expeditions.

Eurohike's what I've got, & I agree it's pretty reliable - currently soaking in the bath to see if I can rescue it, as it smelt decidedly of cats when I got it out!

Anyone have an opinion on those pop up jobs? Argos have them for about £26 atm, so I'm considering one for this weekend (forecast is looking good!), with a view to it subsequently being a 'messing around in the garden' type tent for the dc.

Thanks both for suggestions!

Check how waterproof it is cos it's not nice when they leak. Also if you buy a pop up look on you tube for a video on how to get it back in the bag, they are notoriously trikky. Have fun.

i got a 2man from tesco and put kids in it to eat tea and pretended it was raining with hosepie and it leaked alot.

We had a Eurohike tent for about 10 years - it was great.

Are you near Go Outdoors - they had a Vango on offer for about £50 that looked good
Here

Popup tents are also well reviewed, Gelert, Decathlon or own brands from Go Outdoors, Milllets, Yeomans etc. Not sure if single skin is a good idea though? perhaps try to get one with an inner tent.

Is this too small?

If you keep the old tent you might find a use for waterproofing spray .

I'm now sorted - think old tent will be fine, but have also succumbed to £17 (half price) pop up from Argos.

Will be playing with it tomorrow night - if it won't go back in the bag easily, it's the Eurohike & a good dowsing with Oust to rid it of lingering cat wee smell!

The forecast is fine, so hopefully leaks won't be an issue - might get some of that spray for the Eurohike though...thanks for the link!
