Camping in France ( part 578463)

I know its been done a million times, so sorry about that! I'm trying to talk my husband into going to France for holidays this summer, last year we had a fab two weeks in Turkey but don't have the funds for that this year. We'd be coming from Cork-Roscoff and the only essential is hot weather! I'm looking at those Eurocamp style mobile home holidays, we do a lot of camping in Ireland ( in the rain ) but I think I'd want a mobile home if I was staying for two weeks. We'd want something within one days drive of Roscoff, so that rules out the South I guess. There will be me,my husand and our nine year old son. Can someone recommend somehwere nice? I reckon it will cost us 1200-?1500 before spends ( the irish ferry is ?800 plus) . Any advice or recommendations are very much appreciated? Especially on ways of selling the idea to my husband. Or would we e better going for a cheap week in somewhere like Salou? I'm off work with depression at the minute so its probably a mad idea.

Hi Glastocat
Mobile homes are great, especially with children. You get some space, you have your own car. Eurocamp style will mean you get a reasonable fitted kitchen - makes self-catering straightforward. Campsites are good family places normally with pool, restaurant, takeaway and bar.

Your options from Roscoff include:
Seaside

  • Brittany - like Cornwall but with better food and normally warmer - cider and crepes
  • Vendee - flat but real holiday area

Inland

  • Loire - chateaux, good food

Cost depends on when you go - we are paying around £2300 for a fortnight in Provence with eurocamp in August but for that we are having the biggest possible mobile home with aircon & deck plus campsite overnight stops each way. Not cheap but compares well with other types of holiday - we are 5 so dont seem to fit in a package holiday.
