Repairing an ancient canvas tent - where can I get this done?

Hi. We're going to Latitude festival in July and have no tent at the moment. My parents have offered their 30 year old Hirsch-weis canvas cottage tent (so old I can't find a photo on internet!) but the roof canvas is mildewed and has some little holes as a result.

Does anyone know where I can get the roof repaired / replaced to make it waterproof again? And is this just a really really bad idea and should we just buy a new tent instead of faffing about with this one?

Cheers.

If it is just small holes then you can patch them with a simple repair kit. Cut a patch a few cm bigger than the hole, glue it on and seal the edges with duct tape.

Or if you really love the tent you could try a company like this one

In answer to your last qu - no I'd stick with the old one if you can - it'll stand out so much better in a festival field than a nylon blue one!

You can get all kinds of tent supplies at Pointnorth - I've just put an order in. They could do you some matching canvas, threads etc and the waterproofing.
