Just looking for somewhere for our main summer trip (end July / first week in August) - we've left it a bit late this year for various reasons and I could do with some inspiration!

Last year we stayed at Churchtown Farm in Gwithian, which was fab. Have also stayed at Trevornick nr Newquay, which was not really our cup of tea (though the beach was lovely).

Other sites we've loved are Fisherground in the lakes and Eweleaze Farm in Weymouth. Also really enjoyed River Dart country park.

Not bothered whereabouts in Cornwall - thought maybe the Lizard or somewhere nr Eden Project way on for a change?

We don't really like the big commercial Haven type sites... but a pool would be nice (but not essential!)

Ideally close (walking distance) to a beach and decent showers & toilets!

Would like to be able to book for 10 days or so (more than a week but less than 2), but seems most sites only allow e.g Sat-Sat bookings.

Any ideas anyone? Some I have been looking at: Wooda Farm; Heligan Woods; Chycarne; Treveague Farm... anyone stayed at any of these?

Feedback much appreciated

We stayed in a campsite called Maonkey tree Holiday Park (just type it into google with Cornwall afterwards it should be the first reasult), we camped there the first time, the pitches are large and there are little play areas in each field - well there was in our field. There is an outside heated pool and a club house that does get busy but if you're not into that sort of thing you don't need to go in. The toilets and shower facilities are great and there is a farm area and it is located just off the A30 not far from the Truro turning.

We have since stayed there twice in static caravans as we went in October and March but would camp there again and do plan to go there again this October.

Also they do allow shorter or longer bookings than a week as when we camped we stayed from sat to wed.

Hope this helps.

Sorry didn't see the bit about how close to a beach you would like to be - you can't walk to a beach but Crantock Beach is close by, lovely secluded beach and there is a bus stop if you didn't fancy driving which I am sure would take you there.

Thanks turtle

That does look quite nice - I think we drove past it when we went to Newquay actually. I'm thinking we might want to avoid Newquay though - but Perranporth was lovely.

ATM I'm leaning towards Treveague Farm, though it doesn't actually have a pool... or if DP can swing 2 weeks off work, then we could always do a week there and a week somewhere else. Hmmm.

We stayed at Wooda last year in a tent. It was nicely organised, underfloor heating in the shower blocks, but the tents were a bit close for my liking, or perhaps just where we were. Would maybe think of going there again. Was quite commercial though with take away food and on-site pub/restaurant.

We also went here, lovely site, did have entertainment but we enjoyed it. Small pool too. Big pitches. The immediate beach not good, further afield ones are good, v. close to Eden.
