SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 15/05/2010 17:03

I would be really interested in how your 10 d go in Brittany- easy to reach.

I am v of those with long stays-it's impossible due to work this year but I enjoy it more than weekending.

Dorset at Whit and France in the summer - our weekends are too busy to fit a weekend camp in, so I save all my camping tendencies up

ebayaddict - have you been to R Dart before? we went to visit for the day and the kids loved the watery bit!

roundthebend4 · 16/05/2010 05:44

eBay were looking at River dart to

am aiming be away most of the summer yes I know lucky that can do that like being able disconnect my teens from their computers mind I'm taking my iPhone l

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 16/05/2010 07:45

iPhones and mn do not count- it's my version of a trashy mag on holiday

roundthebend4 · 16/05/2010 08:00

Lol glad I'm not only one ,means once littles flopped I can relax a bit lot lighter to carry than books to

ebayaddict · 16/05/2010 12:22

Haven't been to River Dart before but it looks like there is plenty to do as dc's wil play in the river bit (in wetsuits) even if it's raining.

It's been on my must do list for 3 or 4 years but we waited until dc's are 8 and 6 so that they can really enjoy it.

Seashells - Eurocamp was a complete bargain. May half term is soooo much cheaper than August even if we are risking the weather. We are staying here. Ten nights and the upgrade to the tunnel (I don't do ferries ) cost less than £500 for the 4 of us. Think it wil be a 6hour drive from Calais.

roundthebend4 · 16/05/2010 13:49

eBay when are you going to river dart am hoping before me so you can report back

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 16/05/2010 14:31

River dart looks fab, ds too small at the moment but one to remember

eBay, the Brittany one looks lovely for dc but a bit of a way at tbd moment: amazing location though.

Woodlands in Devon for a long weekend in half term.

A week at Lower Treave Cornwall in August then a week at Gwithians Cornwall in August.

Very excited but praying for good weather

MilaMae · 16/05/2010 15:49

We live very close to River Dart, have never camped but been there for the day, lots to do and I know local friends who camp there a lot because they love it.

There is masses to do nearby.

roundthebend4 · 16/05/2010 16:59

ebayaddict · 17/05/2010 19:08

roundthebend - we wil be there for a week from Sunday 15th. We've got pitch no 16 in the picnic meadow which is in the left far corner if you look on the map.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 17/05/2010 21:22

had weekend at breck farm norfolk also booked

week whitsun holidays here
www.chateau-drancourt.com/ again using chunnel (tesco vouchers) and this not too far to drive and accepts asci vouchers so works out good value....

5 nights start of school hols at Graffham cc

big chill festival august

2 weeks Eweleaze Dorset August

and some weekends in jun/sep to add

really fancy river dart but ds too young at the moment, loads of places I want to try not enough weekends

LittleFriendSusan · 18/05/2010 12:18

River Dart is fab. We had a week there a few years back (after a week at Trevornick which was not so fab ).

We've got booked so far:

  • Whit week - 5 nights at Boroughbridge C&CC
  • Ecofest (local festival in June)
  • Latitude (July)

Just looking to book our main trip to Cornwall as per my post yesterday! Leaning towards Treveague Farm (but no pool...) for 10 days.

Hopefully will manage to squeeze a couple of weekenders in over the summer hols: we fancy trying the Scarborough C&CC site and then maybe just somewhere v local with friends. It's fitting it all in though! I still have a fair few hol days left, but DP only gets 21 days which doesn't go very far!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 18/05/2010 12:49

I can't wait until ds and bump are old enough for the festivals: we have Camp Bestival and Larmar Tree (salisbury one?!) on our doorstep now and can't wait to go.

Eweleaze looks lovely - we may well see you there in Aug too 3rdnparty if the weather looks good one week.

Lucycat · 18/05/2010 14:21

LittleFriendSusan - Glad someone else agrees with me about Trevornick! We had a week there in 2007 and then moved onto Dornafield near Totnes. twas a horrific first week, it's just a good job that we had fantastic weather so didn't need to spned too much time on the site.

LittleFriendSusan · 19/05/2010 12:18

Lucycat - I've a funny feeling we were there around the same time as you! We were in the overflow field right up at the top, so thankfully not right in the middle of it all...

Beach there was lovely though, and very sunny while we were there, so not all bad! We won't be going back in a hurry though

Whereabouts are you going in Dorset?

Lucycat · 19/05/2010 18:02

We are heading to possibly one of the windiest sites ever! It's Golden Cap at Seatown just outside Lyme Regis - stunning coastline, countryside etc . The site is right on the beach but the field where we camp is high up so has stunning views over Lyme Bay. And the Anchor Pub is also on the beach so I can have a pint and the dd's can have an icecream while we laugh at dh trying to catch mackerel off the beach! Can't wait for Whit!

LittleFriendSusan · 19/05/2010 19:13

Sounds great - handy pub is always a bonus!!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 19/05/2010 19:16

Sounds gorgeous lucycat
I really hope we get a decent summer this year- last year we had people on the site get flooded poor things, packing up at 10pm.

I want sunshine
