Does anyone have one of these? How easy is it to get the fire going, I just watched youtube video where it took some gut over 30 minutes!

Also does anyone use it to cook on?

Thanks!

I think they are all pretty much around that mark unless you get a second hand one?

This link kellykettle.com/what-type-of-food-can-be-cooked-using-the-pot-support.html suggests that you're looking at pretty basic cooking

sethstarkaddersmum · 10/05/2010 11:10

what size Kelly kettle do people have?

We have the large stainless steel one, but we don't carry it around, it lives up on our field (where we work)

Taker - yes you can buy a pot support to go over the chimney part and you can also buy like a grill and cookset to go over the fire pit part.

Riven thanks, let me know how you get on, don't know if you've seen it but that Money Saving Expert guy has a few tricks to get cheap rail tickets have a nose here.

Ours is a large one.

We got it for £15, though, because I went and put up cards in the food shops here asking if anyone had one to sell.

And our former nextdoor neighbour had one!

Barely used, too.

sethstarkaddersmum · 10/05/2010 11:21

nice one Expat!

expatinscotland · 10/05/2010 11:23

You never know! Put up cards in supermarkets. It's free and you may score a cheap one next to new.

This guy had been given one and he and his wife bring a flask or go out.

He'd used it a few times, as a novelty, but it was just gathering dust in his garage and not happily accompanying a family on picnics and days out and self-catering holidays.

Right! The reviews are in and you can cook a fry up (3 sausages, 4 bacons, 2 eggs, beans and mushrooms) over a kelly kettle fire pit. Takes about 15 minutes from start to finish!

Love my new kelly kettle!
