this lovely new tent.

We have a huge Vango Diablo which is really great for longer trips but wanted something for weekends that was quicker to pitch. We are just going out to do a trial run in the garden. Fingers crossed its as easy as it looks.....

I note your kitchen comes with built-in cooks. Very nice! Good idea to supplement the windbreak with the tarp. We have one of these. They say no internal accessories included, but I too have a built-in cook. Dh cooks in it when the weather's foul, otherwise he cooks al fresco. But it's bigenough for all five of us to sit around a table in it out of the lovely British summer weather.

Ohh I'm at a cooking tent!! The built in cooks in mine (dad and dp) are ok as long as you constantly pour lager into them they come in handy occasionally

4andnotout... love the cooking arrangement as dh v anti cooking under cover so end up with either take away or using golf umbrella friends have a tarp but its much smaller...do you know what size yours is?

Wiggletastic · 13/05/2010 17:14

The Quechua tarp from Decathlon is 300cm by 300cm and 180cm pole height - pretty big really. I think this is the same one 4andnotout has?

I have also found a video of lots of different ways to put up your tarp here - [sad tent geek emoticon]

DD likes the cheery music on this clip too, she was dancing round the kitchen to it this morning!

We are downsizing, and I am torn between the Quechue 4.2 or the Khyam Winnipeg which is similar size, fully sewn in Groundsheet and 5000HH!

Oh, and we cheat and cook in one of these

Wiggletastic · 13/05/2010 22:04

The Kyham looks good, 5000HH is great, and its about the same price asthe 4.2 but it doesn't pop-up so you still have all that pole malarkey to contend with. Its a hard call....

I am liking the gazebo for cooking but if I buy any more camping gear I will be getting a divorce!
