It'll be the fourth time this year that we've camped. Well fifth but one of them was 2 nights at 2 different places. We're going to camp on Wednesday just for 1 night at teesdale. It'll be our 3rd time there and we love it Just hoping for nice weather now or at least not heavy rain.

Oz was fab , walked enviously round a camp site there in the autumn sunshine
We off to the Lakes for bank hol , booking a weekend in Staffordshire for June and a week in Wales hopefully for July ( surely there has to be less rain than last year!)

We went to Angelsey last weekend. First time camping with DD (2.9) and in our fab new tent.

First night was cold, DD was a bit unsettled but fell asleep when I laid with her. I then sneaked out of her room... only for her to be woken at 11:30 when a group came in a clapped out car that sounded like a tractor and spent an hour pitching tents, hammering with mallets, and repeatedly waking us all up.

Second night wrapped DD up very warmly, she decided she discovered her sleeping bag had a hood and was overjoyed. She loves hats and hoods. Fell asleep without a murmur. 1:30am the wind had got up, was battering the tent and it was raining. I decided DD must have suffocated because I couldn't believe anyone could sleep through the noise. I went to check on her... and woke her up so ended up in with her again.

Good job really because I'd not pegged all the guide ropes in (we had no mallet, I was using a board version of Each Peach, Pear Plum to push them in) So by the end of the night it was my weight holding the tent down.

Had a fantastic time though. Love the new tent, just need some better tent pegs... and a mallet

We had a fab but windy and wet week last summer in Anglesey Bilblio , lovely place!

Curiousmama · 30/04/2010 21:54

I haven't camped at the lakes yet but visited lots as not that far away. There are a few sited over there I like the look of. One is near Ullswater and another Keswick.

Dp and I joined the CCC the other week and have camped at one of their sites which we enjoyed.

Your trip sounds very adventurous bilblie Reminds me of the night dp and I stayed at Tan hill. I had the tent on my face all night with the wind and rain bashing against it. We have a new tent now for such trips and will be trying it out soon. It's only a £2 donation to camp around the pub and the views are spectacular.

delta pegs for wind. Work in a full gale on a cliff top.

MN was my first port of call for researching what pegs people recommended so I'd read the ravings over delta pegs. I shall be purchasing some before our next trip. I was hoping to go in a fornights time, but we have a very nice man who has finally found time to do our bathroom. Farewell horrid carpet!

We've had tiling things, a sink and toilet stuffed in various nooks, crannies and under beds for weeks, so when they're all gone I can find proper homes for all the camping things.
