Me and dp going camping tomorrow night behind a pub...our favourite way to have a night out :)

Me and dp have been into camping for the past year, he was previously but my interest sparked it in him. I always wanted to camp but exdh hated the idea. Luckily my 2 dss love it They can't wait to go again and it's the only time ds1 is totally away from his ds/wii etc... He doesn't even want to bother with it when we camp which is good.

So, dp and me have camped behind a pub a few times when we get time alone. Tomorrow the boys are at their dad's and dp isn't working so we're going to stay behind a pub that's only 10 mins away. It's a first but we've heard it's nice and quiet and does good food. They have a small campsite with some hook ups although we don't need that, we just take the tent etc... There's also a play area for dcs when they come (if we like it?) It's for CCC members only but I just joined so that's ok.

Am quite jealous! Have just booked our first camping trip of the year, in July but have to do a couple of things like give birth before then. Can't wait! (camping not birthing...)

Wow oranges I'm in awe of you.

We're thinking of booking Lowther park near Ullswater for the summer hols. There's lots to do for the boys and a friend has recommended it.

Don't forget to join my campting website if you haven't already It's here free to join and lots of mumsnetters on it. Am hoping more will be posting now the weather's picking up?

Well it was very successful We ended up buying a new tent That makes 6 in total....but we are giving 2 away!
This tent will do us when we go to Tan hill and suchlike. It's a Vango halo 300, plenty of room for our self inflating mattress. We took it with us last night and tried it out and it's excellent. There was a frost on the ground this morning yet we were cosy warm It's easy to put up and take down too.

The pub was lovely, real ale and good grub. Plus if we'd got there a bit earlier they do 2 meals for 9.95. There was a great selection to choose from. The food we had was great as was the beer. They have a brill play area at the back of the pub and there's a gate leading to the camping field. DCs will love it there too, can't wait to take them.

DCs are with exdh tonight, they're off to speedway, so dp and I are off camping again to our old faithful pub. It's also only £5 per tent per night so a bargain! This one has loos and hot running water though. Last night we didn't have a loo overnight but we were prepared for that

Ornages you'll be fine, ds4 started camping at 5 weeks, was easy 9as long as you keep warm)

Fantastic night again, the new tent only took 10 mins to put up. I made chilli and jacket wedges so we just needed to reheat and eat, then we went in the pub and had a few beers. There's always interesting people in there as it attracts walkers/tourists and you get locals in too.

The views over Teesdale are beautiful and it's lovely seeing the wildlife. I'm a bit of a twitcher so enjoy seeing the birds. 2 hawks were worrying a pheasant for ages, they made so much noise! I chased them off though. Silly I know as they'll be back but they were loud.

I'd pre-prepared most of breakfast too, fried up some peppers and onions and added them to eggs this morning. I'm getting the hang of camping now, last year I wasn't so organised Dp is an old hand so he's taught me a lot.

I just can't wait to go again and take dcs. We'll be camping for our holidays this year so don't feel so bad investing in camping gear.
