We like the look of the Vermont and I know the first bit is the porch, but don't like the thought of when it's raining heavily that you have to open the sloping door and let all the rain in. I know alot of people put on the Montana canopy but that's more work!! Have you checked out the Vango Amazon 600 (the 2010 model though) as it's quite different to the 2009 model as the front canopy comes right down to the ground with extra bits - so perfect for cooking in and sheltering from the rain when entering the tent. It's also about £250 cheaper than the Vermont XL.

We've had our current Vango Vail for 4 years and really pleased with it, would like a canvas tent but then what in 3 years when there are even nicer models out do you justify changing it!! At least ours has a few years in it yet and then can happily choose another (not bad at the £300 we paid for it at the time!).

Try and view them though as it's so different seeing them to just checking out measurements on a website!!!

Having read on - think you might have bought already - anyhow for anyone else reading...
