Any difference between them? Which is better for those who prefer small sites and have a folding camper?

We have been caravan club members for a few years now, but last year we also joined camping and caravanning.

In my opinion, there is no difference, they both have the same high standards of cleanliness. But, we havent renewed our camping and caravanning membership this year because we found that we didnt use them as much. The only reason being, that with caravan club you dont have to pay a deposit when you book, so you dont loose money if you dont go.

Now, I know that it bugs alot of people that the sites get pre-booked way in advance because of this but, we always find that 1-2days beforehand we can always get a cancellation for wherever it is that we want to go. Lots of people pre-book (unfairly) on the off-chance that they may want to go away but end up either changing site or not going at all, so there are always cancellations if you ring the site direct.

we joined caravaning club by mistake and then joined th c &c club. imo the caravaning club is overly precious, the sites are v. well run and clean but tend towards teh car park aesthetic. c&c is more friendly as tents are allowed and you don't necessarily have to be a member of the club to use the sites.

the carvanning club magazine is hilarious and you tend to get bombarded with gimmer junk mail.

C&CC club have a folding camper section if that appeals?

BariatricObama · 06/04/2010 09:13

Clarissimo · 06/04/2010 10:33

Clarissimo · 07/04/2010 18:31

I do love this aplce though and it is round about 30 minutes from BIBIC so well worth a look- maybe a few minutes mroe if traffic heavy here- haven't been since revamp but hear it is nice

also there is home farm which is very holiday centre - y but equally is very close, maybe 10 minutes?

Clarissimo · 07/04/2010 18:32

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 08/04/2010 11:04

thanks loads for these, the last one we have got a quote and its a great price, but hoping the site is as nice as first site you linked

Clarissimo · 08/04/2010 12:38

I hope it is OK

Animal farm well worth a visit if you are looking for family time, great kids play area. Also clarks village outlet easy to drive to from there.

Millimat · 08/04/2010 20:21

Back to caravan club debate - we were wondering whether to renew our c&cc membership as the caravan club sites we have nosied at seem to have better childrens play areas. However, you don't seem to be able to search for sites with play areas when you look online for caravn club? Does it tell you in their big sites book?

sphil · 08/04/2010 21:26

Batcombe Vale always gets fantastic reviews, though I haven't been there.
