After much wishing and looking longingly at the site reccomended by Lucycat, I have finally booked to go to the sun in the second half of August. I am so excited,I can't wait . So many bills kept coming along that everytime i thought about booking (that secret) site I had no money! Well, i still haven't (got any money) but decided to book it anyway and start selling stuff on ebay to finance it, which will go some way to paying for it. Thanks Lucy for your reccomendation and when you get a chance let me know best routes and what to take etc please?
Anyone else going to France this year or have been in the past, then please let me know whats the best thing to take? we will be taking our caravan with us.

ooh how exciting! it is sooo worth the drive.
that makes at least 3 of us that will be there this summer (mzmum/pootle1803 and batteryhuman too)

I'll check in with routes etc later - which channel crossing are you planning on doing?

get yourself onto their facebook pages too as you get the latest info - I think there is a new baby in the family of the owners.

Ferry going from dover to dunkirk with Norfolk lines (deal of £95 for car and caravan and 5 passengers)which I am really pleased with as its in peak season. Crossing is at 12 noon on the way out (friday), can't get onto the (shh secret site) til the Sunday, so in effect we have 2 overnight stops to do. Not bothered tho as we still have 12 nights total at LV . We live in London so theres no long journey to dover fortunately. Any tips then please let me know. Off to bed now and dreaming of sunnier days (its pouring outside at the moment).

Hi everyone - haven't looked at the Facebook page yet - I didn't know there was one either!

We are doing the tunnel - it was £138 return which I thought was fine. We live south of London so very very lucky that it's only an hour to the Eurotunnel and I just like to get to France quick so it suits us!!

Sounds like we'll be seeing you all there at some point from 10th to 22nd August!! Am getting stupidly excited about it again - with 4 months to go!

mzmum · 31/03/2010 14:42

Oh just realised you have caravan too so £95 very good!!

mumtotwoboys · 31/03/2010 15:20

We're going to Paris this summer.
On the choo choo train, mind.
Any camping sites being recommended anywhere nearish to Disney??

Lucycat · 31/03/2010 16:46

Very envious of you all living so close to the Channel - we have at least a 5 hr drive to Dover! We stop just over the tunnel side then down through Paris to south of the Loire, maybe even close to Limoges this year, then it's just a few hours on the last day.
If at all possible don't drive on a Saturday as most of France seem to move then! Check out Mappy for a good route.
On site don't forget to order your bread/croissants the night before (11pm) the best supermarket is down in Siorac - an Intermarche with cash point and newspaper stand if you want one! The site itself doesn't take credit cards so you willneed to get some cash out.
I'll try and answer any more questions - I'm also on ukcamping under Lucycat so you can see my tent on there too. We're off to the sun tomorrow for a week so if I'm not here don't think I'm being rude!
