Are you still braving it this weekend with the poor weather forecast

We are really undecided what to do, have booked for wales for a long weekend. Its forecast rain, blustery showers, possible snow and a drop in temperatures.

Have been so looking forward to it and the children will be so disappointed. We have a tourer caravan so its not so much keeping warm and dry that is the problem, but what to do with the kids when we are there. Our plan was to take the bikes and be out and about all day. Hate the thought of having to spend money in crappy soft play areas, may as well stay home for that.

But, DH says forecast is never as bad as they say.

Anyone else thinking forecast not going to be as bad as they are saying?

We're off to Ardennes to stay in log hovel cabin. Snow is forecast. I am little worried, but sod it - a change is as good as a rest as they always say....

Just pack some good wet weather gear and find some really muddy puddles-have fun whatever the weather
We are traveling up to Oban in Scotland on Friday, now that will be an adventure and very wet and cold!

overmydeadbody · 29/03/2010 21:08

Yes, still braving it

BariatricObama · 30/03/2010 09:00

nope, we have postponed. can't be arse with cold and wet, no point

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2010 09:03

We are booked for the week after. dd was horrified at the thought we might not go, so I guess we are going. might look up where the nearest bowling alley and cinema are!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2010 09:04

(btw has my weather thoughts in it for what they are worth - which is not a lot! )

BariatricObama · 30/03/2010 09:25

it has to improve by the second week surely

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2010 09:51

I reallyreallyreally hope so! Sadly that is crystal ball territory.

brook1 · 30/03/2010 10:36

Well, Ive re-checked the forecast and its not quite as bad as what they said it would be yesterday. Its still not too good though.

The site we are going on has a heated outdoor pool, there is absolutely no way in a million years I will be getting in that. But the site owners say it is heated to 28 degrees and will be fine .

Have decided to hold off from packing anything up and we will throw it all together later in the day tomorrow if we decide to go ahead.

we have said as long as its not snowing we will be going, even if we only stay 2 nights which we paid when we booked. DD2 has a all in one water proof suit and the rest of us have good wellies and raincoats
BUT am sending DH off to buy a tv/dvd player

brook1 · 31/03/2010 19:49

Well, we've packed up and we are going. Wellies, thermals & waterproofs are all in. Hopefully, it shouldnt be too bad. I'm putting the portable dvd in and a few also succuming to the portable dvd player for the dc in the evening.

Happy camping everyone!

Brook1 where in wales are you going?

lisad123wantsherquoteinDM · 01/04/2010 19:02

Im about to start packing soon. Have meals worked out, and taking their waterproofs, extra leggings for under PJs and Ski trousers for the day (DD1 hates being cold)

brook1 · 05/04/2010 21:21

Well, we went, and it was mud, mud and more mud. But, the dc enjoyed it which was the main thing, it didnt rain too much but it was sooo cold. The outdoor pool was unreal. The dc and dh actually went in a few times, it was so warm, there was steam rising from it. Awful getting out in the freezing cold but it didnt stop them going in again.

Millimat, it was Dinas Dinlle caravan park near Caernarfon. Very close to a lovely beach. I wasnt keen on the site really, theres mainly statics on there, we booked it last minute.
