Can't wait!!! It feels like ages, I'm getting excited and have already sorted out all the camping gear (not much of it lol) and bought a few new bits and bobs.

When's your first camping trip? Or have you already been ?

It'll be our first trip in our brand new caravan, after 2 years of camping, we've finally whimped out. Isn't it freezing camping at Easter, it was cold for us in early May!

We've lots of hols booked each school hols and bank hols, so excited. I've really missed having short break to look forward to, last one was in Sept.

overmydeadbody · 23/03/2010 20:40

Yep it'll be freezing flutter, it always is at Easter, but only at night! Your caravan will be good!

Our last camp was in september too, so it's been a while!

We are going to the Peak District next Thurs. Like Flutterbye we will also be in our caravan (soft emoticon)

overmydeadbody · 23/03/2010 20:47

Ooooh happyhome where in the Peaks?

We are not venturing up there just yet, as fear it will still be too cold and wet for any proper climbing to be had.

To this site - we chose it as its close to some good off road cycling tracks, I hope its as good as it looks on the website.

We are off to Witterings in Sussex as soon at the children finish school at 1.30 on the Thursday. Going with another family from school and looking forward to see if having a tent with a SIG makes a difference warmth wise.

The trailer is ready, as is the checklist. All I have to do is pack the clothes the day before.

Been sorting out my camper today (pennine pullman) getting ready for friday, and cant wait. We are taking 2 extra oil heaters to have on at night and we are off the floor so hopefully will stay warm.
Very excited kids here too
We are off to mersea Island

We have cancelled Bloody rain

We have cancelled too - Witterings is very windy and waterlogged. Kids were gutted.

Desperate searching last night and we have found a cottage in Kent from Friday to Tuesday that is big enough for both us and our friends to share. The cost is only £50 per family more than we would have paid for the 4 nights camping. We get out trip but also won't freeze.

Planning to put our English Heritage membership to use and go to Dover castle on the way. Will proablably go to another castle on Sunday that is doing Easter egg hunts.

If the weather picks up next week I'm considering going down to Hollands Wood in the new forest for a couple of nights. It counts a mid season so is just about £20 a night for a family of 4 mid week. I won't go in the summer as t gets way too expensive.

Lilyloo · 01/04/2010 18:34

Shame to hear you have had to cancel but think you are very brave camping at easter.
We have our first trip booked last bank holiday in May , hope weather improves by then.
Also lucky enough to be going away Sat to sunnier climes for 3 weeks !!
