How much did it cost?
When did you go?
Where did you go?
How last minute was it???

I remember getting sent offers the summer after ds was born, but we had no money, and the next summer I was pregnant again, and the one after that I had 2 small children and refused to even think about a 'holiday' which would just have meant harder work than normal!!!

This summer ds will be nearly 4 and dd will be 2.5, and I'm looking at our budget and thinking we could scrape together about £500 for a holiday.

We have never been on holiday together, also have dss 13 and 15. I went on camping holiday in the Vendee with my parents when I was 13 and I loved it, would be great if we could afford to do the same!

Hi
I've done last minute with canvas - i think it was about 2 weeks before. We stayed in a tent in the langedouc region at a campsite I've been to before. It was right at the end of the school holidays, early september and we paid the minimal you can which was about £30 per night and we stayed 5 nights. we had our flight on top as we flew which was about £110 each.

It was nice as we had just moved house and didnt think we'd get a holiday that year so it was a bonus!

Hi
We did last year. We were going away end of summer holidays but wanted an extra - cheap - break at the beginning. We left it until about 10th July and then rang Eurocamp and told them the areas we would be happy to go to. We ended up with a great deal although we moved about as we were essentially filling gaps between longer bookings. We went DOver to Calais then had ?3 nights in Normandy (in a 3 bedroom mobile home) then 4 nights in Loire Region again in 3 bedroom mobile home - top of the range with decking etc. We then headed back towards Calais and had just 2 nights in a Mobile Home in Normandy again. It was great- I could dig the receipt out but from memory I think we paid £650-£700 for 9 mights in total. The woman from Eurcamp explained that because we were only staying few night in each place they removed some of the supplements - and prob because it was last minute. Obviously you could probably cut this cost down even more if you wanted to stay in TENTs - although notice that a lot of the sites have less tents than they used to. Might be worth waiting until last minute and doing that if you dont mind changing sites. We really enjoyed it. Hope this helps.

I got a 5 night break in Duinrell including ferry with Eurocamp a few years ago for £115 for 4 of us in a 2 bed mobile!! School hols!!! Booked 3 weeks before. fab!! So good we're going back this year (may h/t) but paid £191 with selectcamp and have to use tesco vouchers for ferry! Selectcamp have really cheap deals end of Aug - friend got 10 days in Italy end Aug /beg Spet (still in hols) for £88 for a tent (5 pax) this year!!!! Booked in march for Aug!

Thanks all

Leslaki that's the kind of thing I was thinking of! I suppose the £500 would have to include everything, so we may end up camping in wales for a week this year, but will check out those links thankyou

SixtyFootDoll: The Matthews smallest van IS tiny, but it has mozzie nets on windows, a decent shower & everything you need in it (better than a Tent!). We were quite impressed for the price.

We have also stayed in their Magnum which was HUGE & very well finished.

They are not the most luxurious, but we discovered them one year when we thought no holiday was possible, and had a fab time.
