Hi
thinking of a trip to europe early June when DS will be 12 months and I will be about 22 weeks with DC2 (all being well).
Is this madness? Any experiences of camping when preg? It'll only be for a week.
DP and I love camping and don't miss creature comforts cos of the freedom and the outdoors but - will the bump make me too uncomfy do you reckon (we just sleep on roll out mats) and is it sensible with DS?
Any experiences really welcomed!

i think it is doable. dh refused to camp when i was 20wks or so and i spent the whole holiday feeling pissed off about being in crappy hotels instead of camping.

your 12 month old will love it but it is exhausting looking after a baby camping.

hi
thanks for your post - I think DS will love it and maybe i can just watch DP look after him?

don't make the mistake we did and think you can manage without a pushchair!

heh you're right - I wear a sling a lot but won't be able to so much then...

You need a Fat Airic I reckon - the most comfortable self inflating mattress ever. IMO a comfortable nights sleep will make all the difference. They cost about £40 but I think you deserve one!

i went camping whilst 16 weeks pg and with DD age 14 mo - it was ok. th only prob;ems were keeping DD warm enough (bu tnot too hot, there are huge temp shifts from evening to night to first sunlight) and was comfortable enough.

we did manage without a pushchair, but took a backpack & baby sunblock rather than a sling - easier for long walks.

I think only you can say, because it depends on how you feel!
I'm heavily pregnant and am always so tired, sickly, unable to get comfy in an actual beds, waking up over such small sounds, aggitated, etc..
Despite loving camping I'm not sure I would cope right now.
I would leave it to as late as possible to book, and see how you're feeling nearer the time!
