Camping in Cornwall in August - do we have a cat in hell's chance ?

If we haven't booked? I've tried a couple of sites that we liked the look of but they're full. I'm thinking of being adventurous (well for us anyway) and just loading the car and going and seeing where we end up.

Anyone ever done this in Cornwall in August? Will we be sleeping in the car?

triplets we went thee a couple of years ago - recommended by MN!! IT was great.

Surfermum there is a good campsite near polzeth that we go to called Lottle Bodieve. You go to Wadebridge and turn right towads Polzeth and the campsite is about 1/2 mile along the road

Have a look at these reviews little bodieve

You cannot book, unless you need electric. We have been twice and it is perfect, about £16 a night. It has a pool (smallish) shop, reasonable showers, playground etc Last year w came home early due to rain, but we would go again in a flash. You are 2 mins from wadebridge and the camel trail for cycling, good beaches in a few mins drive, padstow is a bit further, but we usually get teh ferry from Rock.

Thank you everyone for all your suggestions. We ended up going last week instead of in August because of dh's work and got in at Watergate Bay. Your review was spot on Goosey! The toilets and showers were hot and clean, no queues. The clubhouse was fine, dsd loved the discos, and there was loads of room in front of our pitch for dsd and dd to run about. Would definitely go again.

However it rained nearly all week, our very old tent leaked and I got acute tonsillitis so we came home a day early. I have NEVER come home early from a holiday!

The highlight of the week though has to be our appearance on GMTV with Cheggers, who was doing broadcasts from Cornish campsites all week! Dsd, dd and dh were all spotted by rellies back home. I hid as I literally climbed out of my sleeping bag, threw a fleece on and was there in my PJs.

Oh sorry Sufermum.
Crunchie Thats where we are going on Saturday night (little bodieve)!! I thought it looked good on their website. It will be our first outing in our folding camper. (not real camping but the best I would get from DH )

Really hoping to persude DH to pay out for an all season pitch at Polzeth next year though.

Is that the one in the Valley by the beach? What's it like? I've only ever stayed in luxury villas in Polzeath (well, Trebetherick, up the hill) - swimming pool, sauna, centrally heated villas, all mod cons. Surfing for softies I call it! I love Polzeath, it's my favourite beach for surfing.
