Montana 6 awning

I'm off to convince DH we should swap our front extension for this to make our tent even bigger

Hi Washersaurus

We have the Montana 6 and I was about to post asking whether anyone would recommend the front extension or the new awning? I had thought the extension would be fine as we just want somewhere to be able to shelter in drizzle or in the evenings when it's a bit windy and chilly.

Now I've seen the awning I'm not so sure! Do you think it would work like the extension (I can't work out how much of it opens at the front) PLUS be a sealable extra space?

Choices choices!

Washersaurus · 18/01/2010 20:55

We have the extension already and it is a fab space for cooking and eating etc. so it is unfortunately unlikely I will get to experience the awning.

The awning looks like it zips open totally like the front of the Vermont as well as having the smaller doorway. The thing I really liked was the addition of a bathtub groundsheet; with the extension we have struggled sometimes with it getting really muddy under the extension outside the door where we cook.

If you do buy one can you pitch up next to me somewhere this summer and let me have a good nosey?

Thanks Washersaurus. I'm not sure how much camping we'll do this summer (DC3 is due on 2 September) but I am hoping to try and fit in a few long weekends earlier in the year. Possibly at Sea Barn Farm near Weymouth - had a fab week there last year.

You'll be more than welcome to come and have a nosey if I decide to fork out!

(thanks for the groundsheet advice too - very useful)

Oh, but I want it

Sorry to resurrect this thread - but did any of you actually purchase the awning? And if so, have you used it? I want somewhere to cook and to store 'stuff' - I'm trying to decide whether to get the awning or the extension...and could do with some help please
