no star campsites in france?

We are planning to camp in the Auvergne this summer. We want to do five nights in a four star site and five in somewhere simple - more like a UK Certificated Location. I've found a site that looks ideal - Camping Pont Du Rouffet on the edge of the Monts du Cantal but I can't find reviews of it anywhere. Are we mad to book somewhere we know nothing about? Or perhaps someone on here has been there?[hopeful emoticon].

Our possible 4* site is Le Ribeyre in Murol - if anyone knows anything about that one (good or bad) I'd be grateful too.

Thanks

Even if no-one knows these sites, has anyone got experience of French campsites with no stars? I just don't want a REALLY awful loo!

We stayed in a camping municipal in the summer in Provence. 6 euros a night for all of us and a tent! It was absolutely fine. Spotless wash blocks and nice plots. No pool/playground and all that jazz but there was a pool in the village and plenty of space to play.

I guess it very much depends on the individual campsite though.

is this the campsite? www.locations-vacances-tourisme.com/location,camping,BOS152000.html

Yes, that's it - it has its own website too (linked to on that page). It does look nice - think we'll go for it. Thanks Cumbria.

Has anyone stayed at Le Ribeyre (Murol) or Camping Poutie (La Bourboule)?
