Can anyone suggest a new tent please?

I am looking for a new tent, pref minimum 5 berth/ 2 bedroom. Currently there is just DH and I and our DD aged 1, but we are hoping to try for another soon.

I don't want the bedrooms to be at opposite ends in case my DD decides to go walkabouts in the night when older and I want one where she can sleep in a travel cot in the same bedroom as us (on inflatable double mattress) now but have her own bedroom when she gets older.

Also DH is a shade over 6 foot and wants a tent he can "stand up in".

Finally, a tent with good storage and light and an area where you can cook indoors would be good!!

Any suggestions? I have no definite budget but probably wouldn't go much above £350-£400.

Hmm - bit of a difference between your requirements and your budget if you want quality...

We have this Bearlake 6 which we love - two bedrooms side by side. The bigger one is big enough for a double airbed and DS's ready-bed as he prefers to be in with us at the moment.

We cook inside and have room for a picnic table so can eat inside if it rains/play games/DS can draw and so on. DH easily stands up in it (he is 6 foot) and the polycotton fabric is gorgeous.

Completely happy with ours and we shopped around one winter and bought it massively reduced - about £500, iirc.

Thanks. I would be prepared to pay more if it's worth it.

We've got the Montana 12, we take out one bedroom and 5 of us sleep in the other bedroom compartment.

We also got a good deal (Outdoormegastore.co.uk) and love our tent!

We have an Outwell Montana 6 with front extension and the carpet. Perfect for our family of 4 (DH also over 6ft). We aspire to own a Wolf Lake though

Honeymoonmummy · 26/12/2009 22:56

Ooh I like the Outwell Montana 6!

Washersaurus, do you need the front extension to cook under cover? Or can you put your cooker inside the tent itself?

You shouldn't ever cook in a tent, we use the extension for cooking.

There are lots of tents in a similar design now - I think Kampa also do similar tents with the porch/canopy bit built in.

The Coleman Evolva is fabulous, its huge and has a kitchen extension, just amazing. I so want one!

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 27/12/2009 00:20

We have the Sahara 6

We love it. The living area is huge and great for the boys to play in it and there is a lot of light.

inside the sahara6

reviews for the Sahara 6

The ukcampsite website is a brilliant site to look at reviews for tents and campsites.

mumhadenough · 27/12/2009 00:39

That looks fabulous mrsgok

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 27/12/2009 00:51

Thanks Mum. The boys love it. We sleep in one pod, the 3 boys sleep in another and we use one as a storage pod. They absolutly love going camping in it and were very disapointed that they couldn't go this holidays, we had a few tears. But we went camping in October and I only just survived that , there was no way we were going in December, brrrrrrr!!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/12/2009 00:51

They're both nice but I prefer the Outwell Montana 6, altho it's really adding up with all the optional extra's!

Last we were away this year was July, we were in the Lake District and almost got washed away so I can't possibly imagine camping in December

MrsGokWantssomeChristmasSpirit · 27/12/2009 09:02

LOL Mum, my 3 absolutly love camping. October wasn't too bad. The boys were toasty in their one pod. I just had as many layers on the bed as possible and we had lots of early nights. December though would have been a step too far. I think the coldest I have been camping out in is -3, never again, ever!

Sorry Honeymooney for going off topic. If you have one near you I would recommend going to have a look around a GoOutdoors.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/12/2009 23:48

Thanks MrsGok, I've persuaded Mr HMM that we need the Outwell Montana 6 yay! I just love the kids room!

I am sure you will love it. Have fun camping next year.

Washersaurus · 28/12/2009 20:54

Good choice . I forgot to even mention the kids room didn't I? - it really is fab. I look forward to seeing you around on the camping threads later in the year.
