Just bought Thermarests and a jet boil!!

As DS2 took to camping for a week just as well as DS1, and we had such a horrible week trying to sleep on the airbed we've had for about 10 years, decided to splash out on yummy thermarests. Hopefully they'll arrive today and I can't wait!

DH and I discussed it a lot and next year we're going to get away for weekends as much as possible so makes sense (trying to convince myself) after 15 years of camping to finally get some decent sleep mats.

Oh and I just happened to buy a Jetboil as well

i feel your pain re the airbed. We bought a coleman comfort double with the seperate chambers, but it was still crap. Am hoping that the fat airic's will be back in stock today so i can sleep in comfort in my new tent next weekend. (which i'm also hoping will arrive in time). What thickness are your thermarest's?
Whats a jetboil?

Ooooh lovely.

I have recently started using roll mats under our sleeping bags for extra comfort, one day I may even have he means to progress onto thermarests or fat airecs

Am off to google jetboil.

oooh we nearly wnet for fat airics but you can buy a couples kit for the thermarests and we have a double sleeping bag so thought this would be better.

They're 8cm and arrived yesterday. So soft and scrummy. Waiting for thenm to fully inflate and will try them ou this evening ( I mean just me for compfort - DH is out!)

Jet boil is fab. My friends had one for a while and there perfect for a quick drink or boiling water for cooking on the big stove. Much quicker than waiting for a pan/kettle to boil.

and much safer as won'te leave qanything on the stove with DSs running around....

So you would have a Jetboil and a stove? I like the sound of something that boils water quickly .

Well I have. I have a double burner stove which I put on a fold out kitchen, but it does take ages to bring water to the boil so if I just want a quick cuppa in the mornning I really can't be bothered. Also I'm not happy with leaving the stove at all when it's on with the kids about so I'd have to stand there watching it. And then, once the kids are in bed we sit outside and have a few drinks normally and DH likes a coffee. Pain to light up the big stove for that.

Also when cooking, I have to wait ages for the water to boil (well it seems that way - a watched kettle never boils!!) so took twice as long to cook dinner.

That's my excuse anyway!!

blimey br fifty six quid for a kettle!

got the fat airics ordered today though have cm envy as you will have an extra cm of comfort . The reason i chose the airics over the outwell's (same thickness) was the buy 2 save £15 discount,and the great reviews they get on here. they'd better be comfy!

this is what you need for quick cups of tea. And Fat Airics for sleeping on. Better than thermarests - even if Alpkits is without a doubt the most inefficient company I have ever dealt with, they are lovely people and the product is fantastic.

ooo seeker, am loving the kelly kettle :-) brings out the firestarter in me. Tbh, if we were travelling light it would be great (we never do), i don't have a problem with our normal whistling kettle. I put it on, trek to the loo, and dp is forced out of his sleeping bag by the noise :-) tea is usually ready by the time i get back to the tent :-) as for while cooking dinner, isn't that what wine was invented for?

Kelly kettle does look cool doesn't it, but as it's the same price as the Jet boil, and we have a trailer a the mo so not short on space, I'm sticking with gas I think for the mo.

Why are fat airics better than thermarests? Interested to hear your reasoning.
