Campsites in the Vendee. La Garangeoire again or try somewhere new?

Hi, we went to Le Garangeoire in June and it was fantastic. It had everything a 3 year old needed, the bouncy castle and trampolines being a firm favourite. we are going to go again next year and are not sure whether to stick to La Garangeoire or try somewhere else in the Vendee region. We will be in a tent again and as we had rain this year want somewhere with enough to do if it rained again next year.

Any ideas? Also we went with Eurocamp but Keycamp seemed better. Opinions welcome!

we liked Le Garangeoire but it was jolly pricey and we wished it was closer to the beach

I found garangeoire far too English and a bit tame - I like the wild french effect. Also the bread was poor.

I can forgive many bread defects in a bakery that opens at 7am (ie when the toddlers have been up for an hour and desperately need to go on an errandf with dh)

But no no no the bread was not as bien at at Bonne Anse Plage

have tried several of Eurocamp sites over the years, finally settling on Le Garangeoire as the favourite and returning there several times.

(Personally we like the layout of Eurocamp's tents better than Keycamp, but feel miffed that Eurocamp charge more for the same site when they are actually all one company!)

Second fave, visited some year ago though, is Sequoia Park at Marennes. However we are tent people and they no longer do tents...not sure about keycamp.

Distance from beach is ime directly related to size of pitches and 'niceness' of site...We'd rather have a lovely grassy pitch and nice quiet site and drive to the beach, than camp on a small square of worn out earth!

Tip we have taken to using for trying new sites is to check if they are also listed by castels...

Yes but you must admit that garangeoire( although being very pretty and quiet) is too english...
beach near there very nice and not relaly "far" 10 min car ride

ha..in August I would care if everyone else was English...in May/June when there are relatively few other people there I don't care as long as the pitch is big and grassy, the sun shines most days, the pool is clean, the DCs are having a fab time, Dh does the cooking BBQing, the beach is quiet and has a few good creperies, they have sprayed for mosquitoes before we arrive, and no-one gets vomiting and/or diarrhoea which is my biggest holiday-in-a-tent-fear!
