Is it too late to find a pitch at a really nice campsite in the South West for the second week in August?

Lovely friend has offered to lend us her tent. We are so grateful as have no money this year and cannot really afford to go on holiday. So we are going camping for the first time (hooray!) but before I get my hopes up and start trawling, do you think finding somewhere nice second week in August is going to be possible?

Thanks campers

I think it will be possible, but you will need to trawl.

Smaller, more basic sites away from the coast are more likely to have vacanicies I imagine.

Good luck

Oh a reply - how nice!

See, I was hoping for all mod cons and near a beach type campsites. Must be mad .

I would rather clean the toilets at Waterloo Station than search for anything like a holiday on the net ... but its looking like I'm going to have to very shortly. Maybe just after I've had another look at active convos.

have you used the search function on ukcampsite?

No! I don't know where to begin. But that seems a very good place to start ...

Thank you .
