Is there any way of blacking out tents?

Bursting with excitement at possibility of taking my three children camping next weekend. Got a tent, got a place to pitch it but one thing worrying me is thought of 15-month-old waking up with dawn. Any thoughts?

Prepare for an early morning.

hmm It's a tricky one. I was very afraid when I took my two camping for the first time as they are usually horrible early risers. Something about all the fresh air sorted out that problem though.

Work out what side the sun will hit when it rises and put the lo at the other side of the tent. Are they in a travel cot? Maybe a blanket draped over the side to increase the shade.

I find after the first morning (bit of a novelty), then my kids tend to sleep later than they would at home (4 and 16 mo).

But then our bedroom at home is quite light, so maybe it doesn't bother them so much.

I'm afraid my two wake up at the crack of dawn every day whilst camping. We've bought the outwell kids bedroom which has really helped them fall asleep quickly but doesn't seem to have made them sleep for longer. The added problem of course without any soundproofing is once one is awake we're all awake. It never really spoils it though, we still love camping. Good luck
