Someone on here has, she wrote about them in a camping thread a week or so ago. They're solar-powered, too!

They're cool, IMO.

Who cares if someone thinks it's poncey if you find it cool?

NeedaNewName · 27/06/2009 20:01

NOT!!!! Let me know where you get some from!

We had some solar ones that just didn;t work - was gutted!

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/06/2009 20:03

not poncey, they sound lovely

Mintyy · 27/06/2009 20:07

Well, given that you have to pack a gazillion things for camping, to have also made a point of packing your fairy lights makes you look just a little poncetastic, I'm afraid.

Mummyisamonster · 27/06/2009 20:42

Mintyy, yes I see your point.

I mentioned the idea of fairy lights to DH last week and he just rolled his eyes (whenever we go camping he packs up the car in a very anal "scientific" way and he always accuses me of packing unneccessary crap camping essentials).

I like these lights here
but these aren't outdoor ones.

I think they'd be really pretty and at least you'd know which tent was yours!

smugmumofboys · 27/06/2009 21:23

Poncey. Sorry.

modrin · 27/06/2009 21:26

gorgoeus and dont forget the bunting

modrin · 27/06/2009 21:27

gorgeous even

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 27/06/2009 21:29

The people next to us lat year had some solar ones wound around their front guy ropes and they looked great, and they stopped you tripping over the guys on the way back from the loo at night.

Pretty and practical.

I wish I had found out where they were from.

modrin · 27/06/2009 21:33

check out jollydays luxury camping lovely!!!

Mummyisamonster · 27/06/2009 21:45

Modrin, don't start me off on a bunting google search...I can't have both can I . I will check out jollydays.

WTWWW, thank you for offering a justification practical purpose for such lighting!

TBH I've now got pre-occupied with melamine plates...I think I am over-tired and need to have a lie down.

kiwibella · 27/06/2009 22:00

I love the idea... do they only run on mains power? Can you get portable ones?

bramblebooks · 27/06/2009 22:08

I got the solar powered fairy lights that are around my chicken run from ebay.

kiwibella · 27/06/2009 22:24

MaggieBeau · 27/06/2009 22:26

solar powered fairy lights?! wow! where do you get them??

kiwibella · 27/06/2009 22:46

after a quick google, there's loads... like here

kiwibella · 27/06/2009 23:09

lanterns

gigglewitch · 27/06/2009 23:14

my parents erect something resembling a landing strip outside their awning with all those little solar powered lanterns

We make do with battery operated parasol lights in our tent.

paisleyleaf · 27/06/2009 23:18

We just use the £2 battery powered lights - not much good to you now, but they're in the shops alot at xmas. Last ones I bought were Tesco love heart ones at valentines that hang in DD's bedroom.
Bunting......you make it.....or get the DCs to

oooo the campsites are all going to look gorgeous and twinkly this summer!

lowrib · 28/06/2009 00:20

Lovely.

Anyone who doesn't like them has no sense of fun IMO!

kathyis6incheshigh · 28/06/2009 00:49

I don't think they are poncey because they're not expensive so they're not saying 'look how rich I am to afford this!' the way, say, a Cath Kidston groundsheet (if they exist) might be.

thedolly · 28/06/2009 00:53

We have 2 3 Cath Kidston tents - they were from Millets and didn't cost a lot - I was seduced by the psychadelic flowers and the galloping cowboys .
