I have booked at hollands wood

and here

I know both are great, but I'm struggling to buy our new family tent! We had a Vaude Mark II for trekking, which we love, but with our 8mth old and possibly more in the future we are looking at bigger tents - possibly a Jack wolfskin, or a vango or outwell 6 berth.

Any recommendations? Thanks for the advice I've had for taking a baby on the other thread - good to talk to people who don't think we are mad to consider it

We have a dog, one baby, 2 medium size people and need to sit in/have kids playing in the future. I don't want a huge monstrosity, but something reasonably spacious.

Outwell montana 6 would do it nicely. Lovely big spacious living area. 2 bedrooms that can be made into one if needed.
Vango have similar tents too
Never seen the jack wolfskin ones

I heart my Montana 6 It really is a home from home, can't recomend it highly enough.

The Montana is a great family tent at TrotPout says, ticks a lot of your boxes.

I admired it from afar on our last camping holiday and was very impressed. It was a very nice looking taut tent, and I do like a taut tent. Spenith though.

Thanks! I've been looking at the Montana, but also the Nevada L - I liked the idea that when the kid(s) is a little older we'll like to sleep the other end of the tent.

I've not seen the Wild Country tents - the Homestead is way too big though, others look good (another vote for tautness here too, our Vaude was gorgeous!)

The Cabanon isn't my thing - one day I may have a bell tent though [gives canvas a chance]

Any experience of the Nevada L, O wise ones?

ooo....slubber, we were so set on the montana 6,but I'm really liking the look of the wild country tent.

I hadn't seen any Wild Country Tents before but I did make a mental note that they (there were two actually) looked sturdy and well made. I think the price tag probably reflects that.

Do not feel you have to learn to love the canvas BEAUTY. It's a marmite thing I think.

dh is liking the homestead - the pictures are deceptively big - the specs are more realistic

I think the Homestead is a bit longer than the Montana. It didn't look like a behemoth as I sat admiring its tautness of an evening.

This Khyam looks like a nice solid tent too. Lots of rave reviews of the kyham ridgidomes on ukcs

We have 2 ds' and are looking at the Nevada M as a quick erect weekend tent as DH is fed up of it taking so long to put up the Montana 6 just for a couple of days (it is the perfect tent for longer stays though - we love it)

I can't remember if we have seen the Nevada L anywhere. Some of the Vango ones we have looked at have been ok but just don't seem to have the airy light feel of the outwell tents.

I would just like to add in reference to the khyam recommendation that having stayed in one on which the elbow connectors kept breaking and watching one collapse at Bracelands in a recent storm, I really wouldn't recommend them.

Washersaurus - is there enough space in the living area in the Nevada M? How noisy are your dss to sleep next to?

The Nevada M will be big enough for a weekend for 4 of us - I don't think I'd want to be in there longer after experiencing the luxury of our Montana with extension . We don't travel light

I prefer to have the boys sleeping next to us (in their kids room) rather than at the other end of the tent - DS1 sleeps soundly, DS2 usually ends up in with us during the early hours so it is handy to just be able to unzip the two inner tents and pull him through.

We've got a Wild Country Halo 43 and we really like it. It's not too big but plenty big enough to sit/play in certainly with one dc. We're going to test it next week with ds1 and ds2!

We've just got bought a Robens Triple Dreamer at a Tent Show on special offer. We think it's fab. Has three bedrooms two of which can become one which is useful for being close to small children. plus roomy central area. It's really roomy but cosy too and doesn't look too crazily large from the outside.

No SIG on the Robens though is there? We saw some the other day at a tent show and couldn't believe it considering how much they cost . They are lovely quality tents otherwise though.

If you're used to a Vaude trekking tent, a Wolfskin might suit you better? We have the Montana and really like it but it is a big family tent - steel poles make the bag very heavy!
Friends of ours have a Wolfskin - they are real outdoorsy types.
It is very good quality but they do cost quite a bit.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! We managed to see some of the tents mentioned set up this weekend, and were amazed by how spacious they actually are!!

We have ended up going for the Roban triple dreamer here it seemed to be a smaller 6 person, but will be great for 4 - hopefully it will survive the test!

Anyone else seen/used it?
