Camping

Our UK Camping forum has all the information you need on finding the right equipment for your tent or caravan.

I am thinking about maybe considering a small hypothetical plan for camping with a 4 and 5 yo on my own, for a week.

Is this a good thought to be thinking?

Now I know I can do it as I am strong and practical and ruthlessly efficient

BUT

will I recieve any pleasure from such an activity?

Or will it be a hellish endurance test?

oooh slubber if you go to the Forest Holidays site at Beddgelert then take the mozzie relellent - it's right next to the very picturesque Glaslyn. Martianbishop camped there a few years ago and we went to try and meet up, found her tent but she was out! Good stalker mode I was in that day

A lovely site also near Beddgelert is Cae Du - also on the banks of the Glaslyn but lovely here you go

Good luck with the 'camping with the childre on your own' though.

Maybe The Plassey would be better?

Have bookmarked Cae Du, ta for that. I always take mossie repellent with me [Girl Guider].

The Plassey is really quite close, so I could always pop home to wash clothes/children/ self etc. That it so cheating though isn't it?

Not for a first time...... and I would happily camp in the field at the back of our house - if I was allowed to and the local yoofs wouldn't torch Lakey

I'd say go for it. I took DD on holiday on my own for a week when she was 3. I found it quite hard work (DD not a good sleeper then) and we did have 'cabin fever' - DD actually said 'mum I'm missing nursery' at one point! But it was fun - I liked the freedom of being the only adult so making all the decisions, being spontaneous etc - it was quite liberating! Not sure about camping though I have to say!

I think I might send the Plassey an e-mail and see if they are all booked up.
