Makes sense MrsT, as we don't get respite we find the walking - walking thing better than trashing the house all day but atm i think we're at a stage where we'd be doing that anyway with ds4.

ds2 is far better when out and about, ds3 is OK atm. We shall see how things evolve there.

Cool pop up! We stood and watched on Sunday while the whole of Decathlon came to a standtill when the demonstration guy was pitching and striking that tent. He really knew what he was doing. I do ours when nobody is watching in case it pops up and smacks me in the face

4andnotout · 09/06/2009 18:02

I wonder why the photos work for some but not others?

I don't know - I click the link and it goes to the but it won't load.

Saying that, my facebook is not working either??

Lucycat · 09/06/2009 19:09

It's this tent If you click on demo then it shows it being put up - utterly terrifying .
We have 2 of these and they can be vicious

Furball · 09/06/2009 19:44

sorry it's my laptop - for some reason it won't load facebook, but i can get it on my desktop.

dead jealous though looks fab.

we're just about to buy a tent and showed dh the video [fingers crossed]

Oh I am so tempted to get the base tent, it looks ideal as gzebo and as a alternative to the bastard awning I have to go with my camping van, oh the temptation, its only £79 plus £9.95 for the groundsheet, sleep in van but nee a cooking and sitting area.

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 09:30

Can't see you tube as at work but can see the demo site. Hadn't seeen the big 4 man tent. WOW!!! Fantastic. Now if they did a 6 man I'd be first in line!!!

Furball · 10/06/2009 10:19

But Bunnyrabbit you could buy a another pod to go on the back!

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 11:32

Oh I see, is this just the base tent with two pods?

But my friend has a pod and a base tent and there is definitely a sort of gap between the two. There is a canopy from the base to the bedroom pod but it's not completely closed in like the one in this picture.

I think I'm probably being a bit dense, but it's difficult to visualise.

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 11:43

OK have looked properly now. So this is just the conversion that goes over/zips on to the Seconds base to make it into a 4 man tent. So you could add an extra pod at the back, but it wouldn't be connected in the same way. It would have the gap.

mmmm

Furball · 10/06/2009 12:28

looky here (click on teeny tiny photo.

You can zip on another module to the back

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 12:55

OMG Fantastic. It's like a tent city!!

Do you need a Seconds base to go inside the Seconds base 4.2?

I wonder how much this lot would cost?

1 Seconds Base 4.2: £149.95
1 Seconds Base Full: £129.00
1 2 seconds Air II: £59.95

Total (without any accessories) £338.90
Not as bad as I thought, unless you do need another Base inside the base 4.2.

Now I just have to convince DH that our gourgeous 2 year old Vango Oregon 800 is out of date!!

saintlydamemrsturnip · 10/06/2009 14:30

oh so is that photo of a seconds base 4.2 (4 man) plus seconds base full - pod bit, then seconds air ii

So how long does that take to put up?

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 15:32

Not sure but I'm still trying to work out if you have to put a base inside the 4.2, as in the blurb it says it convert a seconds base into a 4 man tent.

That would work out a bit pricey but still... probably only takes minutes to put up.

4andnotout · 10/06/2009 15:37

The 4.2 seconds base which i have can't have extra pods added as it is all in one piece, it has the middle section and then 2 joined on bed sections.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 10/06/2009 15:44

so the photo is a base seconds full?? but you can't see the gaps (lack of gaps important to me because of severely autistic child who runs off).

bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 15:46

Ah 4andnotout I think that answers part of my question.

Is it basically a 4 man tent with detachable bedrooms then?

4andnotout · 10/06/2009 15:47

Oh i see now I missed that little photo, i would have thought there are still gaps though as the porch only pops out a little way, there is nothing to fix the two together really.

OP posts:
4andnotout · 10/06/2009 15:48

Mine doesn't have any detachable bits it is all in one piece.

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 15:52

So the 4.2 is basically a 4 man pop up tent with no gaps or detachable bits?

4andnotout · 10/06/2009 16:00

Yes, the green and beige one, 4.2 seconds base.

I have probably confused everyone now

OP posts:
bunnyrabbit · 10/06/2009 16:14

No not at all. Makes things much clearer than the website.

Sooo how come they managed to attach another base to theirs? Or do you think its not attached, just shoved under the canopy?

Oh damn, look a the time, must be off. Catch up on this thread tomorrow.

BR

Furball · 10/06/2009 16:34

I was under the impression (and I have no idea) because the write up says 'we connected it up to a full seconds base' that they could zip together.

The other pods seem to be able to do that so I assumed that they had done that with the 4.2
