campsite in the lake district that allows fires and Wild swimming?????

Got a week of camping planned and are thinking of the lakes.

Would love to be near somewhere we can go wild swimming and that lets us have fires.

If not do you know of anywhere in the lakes that is good!

We've got a 2 year old and a 3 year old so childfriendly would be good

Don't know about wild swimming but you can have camp fires atFisherground. They have a pond for tyre swings, etc, and a miniature steam railway running next to the site (request stop). Lovely place. Nearby Grizedale Forest is a good family day out.

According to this article you can swim in Wastwater which is very near to Fisherground. It's my favourite spot in the world, too (not that I'm brave enough to swim there!).

thanks for that meg, it looks stunning. I used to swim in the rivers all the time as a teenager so can't wait to get the kids into it.
