Has anyone been to the Loire Valley?

I have a hankering to see the chateaux. Am reading very enjoyable book about the period of their construction. Are they worth the trip. And has anyoen ever camped there?

We are going to the Loire Valley in August and want to do a cycle- camping tour.
We would like to drive over with the bikes on the back of the car then leave the car somewhere for 2 weeks while we cycle round the Valley.
Does anyone know of somewhere we might park the car for a couple of weeks.
