Sleeping comfortably and staying warm - we did it!!!

We have just returned from our camping trip and are already planning our next trip. Last year DH vowed never to camp again because of the lack of sleep plus he was cold at night so after some research and key purchases, DH managed to sleep comfortably and complained that he was too hot!!!

So this is what we did.

From ground up, we had

ground sheet
silver backed picnic mat
Fat Airic
Pro Action Cowl 500gsm Sleeping Bag
Fleece sleeping bag liner
Pyjamas and socks
Blanket

By the third night, even though it was chilly and raining, DH had removed his pyjama bottoms, socks and blanket. I had removed my socks, sleeping bag liner and blanket!!

DTS had similar arrangement but had a lighter Vango sleeping bag plus they wore their fleece sleepsuits on top of their pyjamas. They slept soundly without waking.

So, I think it is fair to say that I have manage to help DH fall in love with camping again.

I was just pondering this myself, as last year we woke up to a soggy bed every morning, due to condensation.

We had:
groundsheet,
airbed,
sleeping bag under and over.

This year I'm planning on:
groundsheet,
silverbacked picnic mat or foam sleep rolls (which would work best?)
sheet,
sleeping bag under and over.

Will this help?

yes i solved this - i bought a campervan!

Lil, I think that will help because the important thing is to use layers to protect you from the cold.

Thanks Spokette and sorry for the hijack, I'll probably use the foam mats and picnic rug..

ground sheet
air bed
2x fleece blankets
sleeping bag
duvet
fleece blanket

norfolk and warm

Final decision (for today at least) is:

Groundsheet
Foam mats
Airbed
Sleeping bag opened up
Fitted sheet
Hot water bottles
DH & me
Sleeping bag/blankets

Hopefully, we will achieve spokette's superwarmth.
