basically dh is worried about the faff factor of packing everything up every time you need to leave the site.

i have a rosy image of us all merrily cycling everywhere.

I can only speak from having hired a campervan for a week, but I couldn't have done it without a drive away awning. We stayed in the same place for a week, so it wasn't too much of a prob to put up the awning so we had somewhere to put all the bags etc. If you don't have an awning for the campervan, how about having a tent at the side to store all your gear?

Yup was going to say a drive away awning is essential.

we looked at 2 fairly biggish campervans am finding it hard to imagine popping to the shops in one. finding it v. easy ti imagine lolling about outside one and sleeping v. soundly though!

Depends where you will be going and what you like to do.

If you will stay put on a site and only pop out for top ups on bread and milk, then bikes could be good for that. If you like to get out and about and visit places you have to consider how you will manage with parking at places etc.

we are definitely the getting out and aobut type. but reckon we could do that between campsites. parking should be ok with dh as he is fairly handy with a luton van. i wouldn't even try!
