Just booked a campsite for this weekend! Now I'm really scared!

Finally convinced DH that weather was going to be good enough for our first camping trip.

Spent all day yesterday trying to find somewhere local with spaces. Don't want to go too far on our first trip in case we hate it.

Think I've found a nice site - nearish to Gatwick so hope noise form planes not too bad.

Eek. Feel sick with excitement!

Anyone else doing a last minute booking like us?

Oh, that looks lovely! Didn't see that when I did a search on UK Campsite.

We're going here.

I hope it's nice - please let it be nice!

We're going camping tomorrow but haven't booked a campsite. We're going to one that doesn't take bookings, just a first come first served thing, so fingers crossed

bouncingblueberries · 21/05/2009 17:53

Gosh - I'd be terrified to do that overmydeadbody. Good for you! Flying by the seat of your pants - that's the camping spirit!

Oh bouncing blueberries, we went there over the
last may bank holiday 3 weeks ago! We really enjoyed it, it is under the flight path though so can be noisy. My 2 DS's loved it!

Brilliant HairyMaclary! It's good to hear from people that have been recently. Hoping the planes won't be too much of a problem for us - we only live just up the road in the Croydon area so we're used to lots of train and plane noise.

Can't wait!

well, site was just ok....a bit like family field at a festival unfortunately without the festival, only 3 drinking water points we found for 3 fields worth of campers....and 3 washing up points.....a v loud group who thought that a loud shouting and running around game at 10.30pm was a good idea and glared at you when their cricket/football hit your tent/car........much nicer when they had gone, only time we saw anyone from the site was when they came round to check we were going on tuesday am ... so not rushing back...nice views and quite handy for lots of things on the plus side .....and the tent - well all the bits were there but it leaked.... hope you had a good time.. and the rain didn't put yopur dh off...
