Ashurst in the New Forest. Website here. Beautiful site, no fixed pitches - just find a nice grassy spot - surrounded by the forest and has ponies walking through the camp.

There's a good shower/toilet block on the site, and the camp office does bread, milk and ice blocks, but that's about it. Ashurst village (where the station is) is a 5-10min stroll away with a few small shops, a take-away or two and a pub. Lyndhurst, a bigger town (and, according to my kids, with the best sweetshop in the world) is a mile or two down the road.

Brockenhurst has a station and a campsite about a mile walk along a main road.
