I love camping. DH hates it. Anyone else feel my pain?

I'd go by myself if I could get our tent up.

Great memories Stinkermink. Are you going to try and expose your DCs to the same treats?

My memories of camping are those of when I was a child, camping in the style of the big outdoors in America where the main thing was to find an area where you couldn't see/hear anyone around, it was all about enjoying the unspoilt nature around you.... the idea of being camping with people all around me makes me wonder about what is the purpose of it.

I may be also getting old, when I was a teen I could tolerate everything, as long as there was coca cola available (carry that for a few miles cross country!). Now I demand a warm tent, a cosy bed, and above all... warm nights (never going to happen).

Oh yes Mung we will be staggering around supermarkets looking for the best booze deals and chucking the odd lump of cheese or ham into the trolley, it does sound (now) like an ideal holiday to me. No dressing up for dinner in the restaurant, being sent down to the fritterie with a pan to pick up chips for a couple of francs.

My mum did subject us to a regime of peeing in a bucket during the night so that they wouldn't have to get up and take us to the loo though!

Love it!

The thing is I live overseas at the moment and my kids are living a similarly ferral existance, their feet are disgusting and no amount of scrubbing will change that. But they are happy and live basically outdoors!!
