If I'm going to camp for the first time alone with 4DC this Summer (with one newborn) I'm going to need to be somewhere where the bathroom facilities are pretty fabulous.

I have a touch of OCD, not about germs, more about sharing of space where one cleans oneself (odd, I know). So, I don't like standing in shower cubicles that are even slightly minging, or hanging my clean towel up in not very clean bathrooms and so on...

All the mud and grass and wet of camping is absolutely fine so it's only the bathroom stuff I need to worry about.

So, is there anywhere you would highly recommend?

I've camped in the Lakes and in France and in Essex but quite fancy beach proximity this time as, weather permitting, it provides cheap ready entertainment!

Someone on a previous thread mentioned this one - with the loo of the year award?

janinlondon · 07/05/2009 10:29

Though of course this one in France looks tailor made for you - own facilities on each pitch!

we stayed at a fab campsite in forest of dean, brand new toilet block, lovely showers, underfloor heating, and free hair dryers. Also just come back from porthtowan tourist park in cornwall, lovely site, nice flat pitches, large kids play area, family shower rooms as well as normal showers. Laundry room, and lots of pitches with electric hook up. Despite all this it was still a nice quiet site near the sea.

That was me janinlondon!

We went there last weekend and the facilities were absolutely spotless. The family room is good too - a loo, sink, baby changing station and shower all to yourself!

The only downside to the site is that there is a main road nearby which can be heard from the site.

Another good site is Porlock Caravan Park which accepts campers and also has a loo ofthe year award!

Dornafield everytime.

trul fabulous - if you can get in! not near a coast though such as most coastal sites attract a 'different camper' we did get to the South Hams in about 30 mins.

if you want a teeny tiny campsite... then here uppermorgaywood near hastings

a small holding like the goodlife with ducks / chickens / geese / donkeys and some sheep, (that you are welcome to see and cirds are free range over the campsite anyway
they arnt online and their email doesnt work (or didnt when i tried)

the showers (1 per each sex) are like an en suite you would have in your own house

there is also a nice washing up room (shed) which is quite spaciouse and would be perfect fopr bathing a baby / toddler in a baby bath.

I am checking out all of your fabulous links, so thank you very much.

I will come back with questions when I start my shortlist!
