Camp Bestival

Right here goes:

It's a toss up between Big Green Gathering, Camp Bestival or Nothing At All.
I've fancied the BGG but CB looks like lots of fun.
Has anyone got any experience of it with little savages children in tow? Mine are 3, 22 months and 10 weeks so will be 3.6, 2.1 and around 6/7 months (but will be in a sling most of the time). Will it be murder?
DS1 is a particularly bad sleeper so fully anticipate evenings just roaming as my previous experience of festivals is Glastonbury and Reading or is there less on in the evenings as it is billed 'family friendly'?
We haven't been on hols in about 5 years when I was pregnant with DS1 so BGG also appeals as it's 5 days. It looks a bit better once they're older though.
Ideas please ladies (and gents obv.)

we're going with severely autistic (non verbal) 10 year old, 7 year old and 4 year old. Our autistic son will be a nightmare but will love it I think. I expect the other 2 to be easy peezy (looks like there's lots for them to do - they need to be as it will be 1 adult for them, 1 off with our eldest).
There are a lot of festivals I wouldn't take ds1 to but I an expecting camp bestival to be fine.

That's reassuring, thanks for replying.

Come and play. Very biased here because we are local so don't have to camp, but we had a fantastic time last year with DD and DS who were 2.6 and 4 weeks at the time. It was do friendly.

WoTmania · 04/05/2009 19:17

have you been to BGG at all? Am leaning v. much more towards CB though as it's smaller.
How were the evenings?

Never done BGG, CB covers everything that we would look for at the moment in a festival.

WoTmania · 04/05/2009 19:22

Do they have lots for toddlers/little people?

There are quite a few threads on this - do a search.

I was veering between Camp Bestival and the Larmer Tree Festival, and have gone for the latter because it's smaller and I prefer the music and vitally we can hire a caravan to stay in (1st time jitters).

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/05/2009 19:25

Yes, they had a circus tent with activities all day, bouncy castles, dressing up tent, some stuff on the stage, disco.

I try and go every year, was v.muddy last year, was fun!

ra29needsabettername · 04/05/2009 20:02

Noo- BGGis the most wonderful child festival on earth honestly! It's so laid back and just magically wonderful! It's less comercial than the others but SOOO lovely. I've had a couple of glasses of wine so am not capable of more reasoned debate bu think it's the best family festival out there ( better even than larmer tree)!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 04/05/2009 20:06

Sure you are not mistaking Camp Bestival for Bestival for CB wa very dry last year but I know B was very wet

HaventSleptForAYear · 04/05/2009 20:07

Don't say that ra - I've booked the larmer tree already!
