For anyone who is interested, Aldi are selling camping gear this week. I want to get their dynamo radio!

Snorkle mentioned ebay as well for tents so I'll have a look (even though I'm not really sure what makes a good tent )

Go for the big names and you won't go too wrong.

Gelert, eurohike etc etc. If you have time to keep checking ebay, people do put almost brand new ones up for sale after deciding that camping is not for them or upgrading to a bigger/better tent.

If you find a tent you like on ebay, then do a google serch on the name and model of tent for sale, plus the word 'reviews' in the google box too, then you should come up with independant reviews of that exact tent before you make any decision. I do this with most tinhgs I buy.

I've had a quick look. Not sure what the difference is between Tunnel or Dome is though.

the shape of the tent.

A tunnel tent will generally be a tunnel shape, with two curved poles that are seperate, a dome tent is more of a dome shape with two curved poles that cross in the middle.

Tunnel tents usually have more space for the same size, but not always. The will need guy ropes to hold them up and keep them erect.

Camping gear back in at Aldi this week - inflatable mattresses, cookers, chairs, the lot!

I have just bought a self inflating mat and a foil backed rug....

hoping to reduce my need for air bed and foam mat and 2 fleeces and a sheet and non slip stuff *and air bed pump.

im very impressed with my mat... its self inflating as i speak (they recommend letting it get fat for at least 24 hours before you use it for the 1st time)
